mindshare - the amount of attention required by something, the time spent thinking about something awareness - informed; alert; knowledgeable; sophisticated; source: dictionary.com Well, what does this have to do with search engine marketing, right? Well, when you break down the effort that is involved in marketing a site, it is the process of creating the awareness of your site to the search engine. Sure, it's just a machine, but a human determines what values to look at when considering the output of the search results. So, how does one create this "Mindshare Awareness?" Many people do it already without even knowing it. Every time you add a link to your site, every time you post a comment on a blog that allows HTML, you are creating awareness about either yourself or your site. While this may be called other names, think about the impact it this has on you. Every day we are presented with offers that for the most part, we ignore unless we currently have a need. Marketing is about being there when someone is looking for your product/service. Good marketing is only being there when the person is ready to buy, but that's another story...
